Los Angeles Police Department officers arrested six people suspected of their involvement in two unrelated burglaries in Chatsworth on Friday.
The first burglary occurred around 1 p.m. at a home in the 10600 block of Willowbrae Avenue, an area west of Canoga Avenue. According to the LAPD, the victim was not there at the time but saw on her home security camera system that at least two people had broken into the home.
When the homeowner was returning home, she saw the alleged suspects trying to leave her property in a getaway car, police said. As the suspects tried to escape, they crashed into the victim’s vehicle, causing their vehicle to become inoperable before running away on foot, the police department added.
After a nearly hour-long search, LAPD Devonshire Division officers were able to locate and arrest three people suspected in the afternoon burglary.
The second burglary occurred a little before 9 p.m. in the 10500 block of Alabama Avenue, about an eighth-mile southwest of the afternoon burglary, just on the other side of the railroad tracks that pass through the community.
According to the LAPD, officers were in the area when the burglary was originally reported. Officers quickly located a suspected getaway vehicle and tracked it to Hollywood, while attempting to confirm if anything was taken.
Once officers confirmed a burglary occurred, LAPD Hollywood officers attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle did not stop, leading to a pursuit that ended in the Vermont Square neighborhood of South Los Angeles.
By 12:30 a.m. Saturday, LAPD officers had arrested three people suspected in Friday evening’s burglary near 54th Street and Hoover Street after an hours-long search of homes and businesses in the area.
