It’s been nearly a decade since the second instalment of the ‘Sicario’ franchise, ‘Sicario: Day of the Soldado’ was released, but one of the movie’s stars thinks that work will be proceeding soon on a third.
Josh Brolin, out on the promotional tour for Ridley Scott’s ‘The Dog Stars,’ told ScreenRant that‘Sicario 3’ (which carries a working title of ‘Sicario: Capos’) is happening and that production is starting “soon”.
It remains to be seen if that works out, and there’s no word yet on who will be in the director’s chair. It seems certain, though, that it’ll once more boast a script from Taylor Sheridan, who worked on it before his career became all about his sprawling TV kingdom spawned from ‘Yellowstone.’

What’s the story of ‘Sicario’?

In 2015’s ‘Sicario’, directed by Denis Villeneuve, Matt Graver (Brolin) recruits FBI agent Kate (Emily Blunt) to a government task force, led by the mysterious Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro), hunting down Mexican cartel bosses in the escalating war against drugs.
2018 brought the Stefano Sollima-directed sequel, which featured Isabela Merced in Blunt’s absence, and saw Graver re-teaming with the mercurial Alejandro.
Not much is known about the plot for the new movie, but we can expect gunplay and danger as usual.
Where else can we see Josh Brolin?
As mentioned above, Brolin will next be seen in ‘The Dog Stars,’ due on August 28. After that comes ‘Whalefall’ on October 16 and ‘Dune: Part Three,’ out on December 18.
