Overnight road work to begin on SR 2 from West LA to Echo Park – NBC Los Angeles

California

Overnight road work will prompt lane closures on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Los Angeles and Hollywood and Glendale Boulevard in Echo Park beginning Sunday night.

According to Caltrans, the work will be conducted between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. nightly, Sunday to Friday, with parking restrictions in place throughout that span to accommodate curb, gutter and sidewalk construction.

In West Los Angeles, up to two lanes in each direction of Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed each night between Federal and Cotner avenues, with no parking allowed in that stretch.

In Hollywood, one lane of eastbound Santa Monica Boulevard and up to two lanes on the westbound side will be closed between Wilcox and El Centro avenues, again with no parking permitted.

In Echo Park, one northbound lane and up to two southbound lanes of Glendale Boulevard will be closed between Branden and Allesandro streets.

During the lane closures, business driveways will remain accessible, according to Caltrans.

The work is part of a $70.2 million project to improve state Route 2 from Centinela Avenue in Santa Monica to Echo Park. According to Caltrans, the project “will extend the pavement life and enhance safety along multiple segments” of the roadway.
