Pabst Blue Ribbon is now offering a reward after $70,000 worth of beer was stolen in Montclair earlier this week in two separate incidents.
Greig DeBow, CEO of Pabst Blue Ribbon, made the announcement on social media on Wednesday. DeBow said they want their product back by Sept. 9. If they don’t get it back, they are offering a reward of up to $20,000 for any new information that leads to the lost goods.
Police in Montclair are searching for the person or group responsible for the heist.
In two incidents, shipments of the beer were swiped from the Anheuser-Busch distribution center on Aug. 17, according to the Montclair Police Department.
In the first heist, a shipment that was worth about $45,000 of beer was picked up for delivery to Arizona but never arrived. In the second incident, about $25,000 worth of beer was taken after a supposed subcontracting company submitted fake documents to arrange the pickup.
Over 1,600 cases of the beer were taken, DeBow said in the social media post.
Both occurred within an hour of each other.
Montclair police said similarities between the heists have led them to investigate whether they are part of the same operation.
In the social media post, the company added a disclaimer stating that “any new information provided prior to the September 9th deadline that leads to the successful recovery of the stolen PBR will be eligible for up to $5,000.”
After the September 9th deadline, the reward will be up to $20,000.
