Fairfax house once again surrounded by trash – NBC Los Angeles

California

An infamous property in the Fairfax area of Los Angeles is being investigated after it is once again surrounded by trash.

The LA County Public Health Department says they will investigate the so-called Fairfax trash house.

That property has been plaguing LA for years despite efforts by the city to clean it up.

In April of 2024, the so-called Fairfax trash home on Martel Avenue was surrounded by garbage.

The shocking situation even prompted a visit from LA mayor Karen Bass.

“What I can tell you about is the future and this is not going to occur again,” Bass said at the time.

According to the mayor’s office, the property was cleaned up twice. But in August, the home was a mess once again despite previously having been declared a public health emergency by mayor Bass.

“The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Environmental Health Division has been made aware of the current concerns, and a site investigation will be scheduled,” the department of public health said in a statement. “This investigation will evaluate the property for accumulation of trash and debris, potential sanitation issues, and evidence of vermin activity or infestation.”

According to the mayor’s office, the owner was being evaluated for competency in mental health court. The outcome of that court hearing was not immediately known.
