The president’s closing message is leaving one administration official jealous, Colin Jost jokes

Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update took aim at two of Donald Trump‘s closing messages as the midterms draw near: just pretend that he’s on the ballot, and look at people’s butts.

“President Trump continues to campaign for Republicans ahead of the midterms with the message, ‘Just close your eyes and pretend I’m on the ballot,’” co-anchor Colin Jost began.

“Said one voter, ‘You had me at ‘close your eyes and pretend,”” Jost said as a photo of Melania Trump showed on screen.

Jost also made fun of what Trump is ‘laser-focused’ on ahead of Tuesday’s vote: Ohio Sen. Jon Husted’s butt.

After playing several clips of the president at rallies describing how he has “examined” it, Jost said he knows who is feeling left out: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

“He’s out here doing televised workouts to get Trump’s attention—zero compliments on his body!” he said. “Even Vice President JD Vance came out and said he was jealous that President Trump has never complimented his butt. What the hell is going on?! Your party is about to lose the midterms. Stop playing ‘smash or pass’ with each other.”

Jost continued on the theme after mentioning that Trump said his frequent rallies are tough on his vocal cords, telling reporters, “God didn’t make vocal cords to do a rally every day.”

“In fact,” Jost said, “the only thing God made to never quit was Jon Husted’s ass.”
