Zach Bryan is cranking out new music post-breakup, teasing his third new song.
Two weeks ago, Zach Bryan and his girlfriend, Brianna Chickenfry, informed the public that they were no longer together. While the breakup was made public, Brianna posted a video noting that she was shocked that ZB made a statement on his social media regarding their relationship status.
“Addressing something: Brianna and me have broken up with each other and I respect and love her with every ounce of my heart. She has loved me unconditionally for a very long time and for that I’ll always thank her.
I have had an incredibly hard year personally and struggled through some pretty severe things. I thought it would be beneficial for both of us to go our different ways. I am not perfect and never will be.
Please respect Brianna’s privacy and space in this and if you have it in your heart, mine too. With everything I am and to anyone I let down, I am sorry. I try my best in everything. I failed people that love me and mostly myself.”
Since the split, both couples have been under fire for how they are handling the situation, with Bryan being seen on Raya (a celebrity dating app) less than 24 hours after the split and Brianna posting things to her Instagram like, “I’m literally so fine besties. F**k men and kill ’em all,” shortly after she filmed a video of herself crying on the bathroom floor.
Healing looks different for everyone, right?
But any music fan knows that heartbreak often leads to the formation of some incredible sad country songs, and it appears that this breakup is serving as a creative muse for ZB as he has teased not one, not two, but three new singles since the status change of their relationship went public. Granted, these songs could have been written long ago, perhaps when the two were going through a rough patch, or past relationships could have inspired them, but the timing and some of the lyrics feel very pointed towards his relations with Brianna Chickenfry.
The last song he previewed, “All Good Things Past,” felt like he was referencing a few mistakes that he made near the end of their relationship:
“Recall when we, went to Rockaway Beach, summer heat in eastern Queens, and a subway ride.”
And his newest song teaser feels as though he is expanding on those feelings.
Late last night, ZB took to Instagram (as he still has his Twitter deactivated) and teased another song, seemingly about his breakup. The demo style preview highlights a duet with a delicate guitar melody. The lyrics that ZB details highlight parts of New York, where he and Brianna lived for a portion of their relationship, and acknowledges that the narrator’s mental state is not the best, hoping for someone to return to his life that he knows won’t.
“Adderall and white lace bras will make you fall in love; you left your blue jeans in my pickup truck; New York this time of year ain’t good for me ’cause all my friends lack self-control and empathy.”
The female vocalist on harmony adds a rich layer to the overall sound:
It seems like a new breakup album is in the works, but the question is, will these songs stay in the vault for years before hitting streaming platforms, or will ZB give them to fans soon?
Either way, ZB fans love the new content.
