A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy was relieved of duty following allegations they were connected to thefts in Diamond Bar while working, authorities said Wednesday.
The unidentified deputy was arrested on charges of grand theft before being cited and released last Thursday, a day after the department learned of the allegations, according to the LASD.
Officials say the deputy will not return to work until the outcome of the internal criminal investigation is released.
“The Department takes all allegations of criminal misconduct seriously,” the LASD said in a statement, in part. “Any employee who violates the law or breaches the public’s trust will be held accountable, regardless of their position or badge.”
