A brush fire broke out in West Covina on Saturday night, officials said.
Crews responded to the “Hooper Fire” near Hooper Drive and Hillside Drive at around 9:40 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The 3-acre blaze appeared to be burning in a remote part of a neighborhood that’s built onto a hill. Officials say the fire had a potential for 10 acres and could possibly threaten structures.
Video from NewsChopper4 showed firefighters on the ground and water drops being made.
NBCLA meteorologist Stephanie Olmo said weather conditions were favorable to crews, with calm winds and elevated humidity values in the area.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
This is a developing story that will be updated as more information arrives.
