Arrest made after human remains discovered in Cabazon – NBC Los Angeles

Human remains were found Saturday during an ongoing homicide investigation in Cabazon, and a suspect was arrested nearby.

The remains were found at 12:23 a.m. Saturday in the area of William Avenue and Poplar Street, according to Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Carlos Mendoza. The victim’s name was withheld pending family notification.

The location was south of the Redlands (10) Freeway.

“During the investigation, the Central Homicide Unit identified Jesse Kennedy, a 48-year-old resident of Cabazon, as the suspect in this murder,” Mendoza said. “Kennedy was located in the area of William Avenue and
Poplar Street, where he was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center” on suspicion of murder.”

The investigation remained active and anyone with information was asked to call Central Homicide Unit Investigator Nick Ramirez at 951-955-2777 or Cabazon sheriff’s station investigator Birmingham at 951-922-7100.
