Tulsa Police Say They Did Not Advise Arena Or Ella Langley To Cancel Oklahoma Concert After Investigating Bomb Threat

Music

Sounds like Tulsa police had everything under control.

This evening, Ella Langley’s concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the BOK Center was canceled due to what was described as “a serious security threat.”

According to local Tulsa news outlet KOTV, there was a “false bomb threat call,” which was information provided by Tulsa police, and officers told the outlet they “conducted a preliminary sweep with K-9 officers and found no indication of a threat.”

They also said “did not advise the BOK Center or the artist’s team to cancel the concert,” though clearly the venue, or Ella, felt it was still necessary to do so.

In a post on Instagram sharing the news, Ella stated that additional information, as well as refund details, will be shared as soon as possible:

“Due to a serious security threat involving the safety of fans, venue personnel, and the artist, Ella Langley’s scheduled performance tonight at BOK Center in Tulsa has been canceled.

The safety and well-being of everyone involved is our absolute priority, and after careful consideration, we have determined that the show cannot proceed. We understand the disappointment this news brings and apologize to fans who planned to attend. The safety of fans is our foremost concert and will always come first.

Additional information and details regarding ticket refunds will be shared as soon as possible. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize the safety of all involved.”

Ella added that she is very, very sorry for having to do this, noting that she knows “much time, travel, money, and planning goes into coming to a show.” We all know it takes a lot, so I’m sure fans will understandably be disappointed, but safety always comes first.

She added that the decision was not made lightly, and of course, there was a lot of input from local authorities as well as her own personal security team:

“Due to a serious security threat involving the safety of my fans, the venue staff, and my team, the incredibly difficult decision was made to cancel tonight’s show. This decision was made under the advisement of local authorities, the venue, and my security team.

I know how much time, travel, money, and planning goes into coming to a show, and I can’t tell you how sorry I am. This is not a decision that was made lightly. I was so looking forward to spending tonight with you, but your safety will always mean more to me than anything else. I refuse to put anyone in harm’s way.”

It absolutely sucks to have a concert canceled like this so close to the time it was slated to start, and it is a little strange that they went ahead with the cancellation after local police had cleared everything and said they were good to go, so hopefully we’ll hear more from Ella or the venue on why that decision was made.

Of course, everyone’s safety should always be the top priority, and it sounds like the police department had everything under control and there really was no threat at all.

At the very least, I think the ticket holders for this concert deserve an explanation, and you can view Ella’s post here:
