Luke Combs Honors The Late, Great Toby Keith By Walking Out To “Should’ve Been A Cowboy” at Oklahoma University Stadium Show

Music

Luke Combs knows how to make an entrance.

The country music superstar is currently out on his My Kinda Saturday Night Tour, which has already managed to break multiple attendance records. 97,367 fans were in attendance at his Ohio Stadium date back in April, so Combs now holds the record for the largest single-night concert attendance ever at the Columbus venue. The “Hurricane” singer went on to set another record at Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium when 92,045 fans packed the college stadium (that actually broke a record that was previously held by Garth Brooks).

Needless to say, Luke Combs is drawing the fans out in record-breaking droves in 2026.

Last night, the country singer performed in front of a packed Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, Oklahoma. And when it came time for Combs to walk out on stage, he tapped into the rich country music history of the Sooner State and paid tribute to the late, great Toby Keith. Combs rocked a hat that spelled out “Toby” on the front, and “Should’ve Been A Cowboy” was blasting through the speakers.

It was one heck of a way to get the Oklahoma crowd fired up, and it was a wonderful way to celebrate and honor the legacy of the Big Dog Daddy:

Electric.

You get goose bumps just hearing the entire stadium sing along to Toby Keith’s hit song. There’s no doubt it was the perfect song selection for the moment, and fans on social media were appreciative that Combs took a moment out of his show (before it even really got started) to shine a light on the legacy of Toby Keith:

Translation: Luke Combs knows that it’s only right to tip a cap to the Oklahoma country music legend in his home state. Well done, Mr. Combs. Well done.
