Jessica Tarlov used Fox News‘ own poll against her The Five cohosts on July 23. Jesse Watters brought the poll up at the beginning of the show, noting that it found a majority of Democrats support socialism and the Democratic Socialists of America, while only 41% support capitalism. He used the poll as evidence that the Democrats were out of step with the average American.
Later in the show, Tarlov came back to the poll and pointed out, “There was a lot more to that Fox poll and it was absolutely brutal for Republicans. And that’s going to be the choice in November.”
Tarlov continued, “Democrats have 53 to 46. In counties where the presidential vote was close — so, decided within 10 points — Democrats have 59 to 41, up on inflation and prices and the economy. Young people, old people, women, independents … the only group that Donald Trump was up with was white votes and that was just GOP plus one. That is the election the Democrats are thinking about.”
She was interrupted by Brian Kilmeade who said, “Should be thinking about, but they’re not. They’re not.” Tarlov insisted, “No, they are,” to which Kilmeade replied, citing the Michigan U.S. Senate race, “But some of these candidates, if they emerge, if El-Sayed emerges, I mean, Rogers walks to that. Because they’re not going to work together.”
Tarlov hit back, “Well, I don’t know if he walks,” but she was interrupted again. She finally got in, “Donald Trump is an animating factor in an election for the people who like him and the people who hate him”
Greg Gutfeld accused Tarlov of “hating every Republican. “I would take the binders full of women any day now over what we have,” she fired back. “But he is that animating factor for both.” Watters wound up cutting Tarlov off and telling her, “You’re in the weeds a little bit, Jessica, we do have to go, but thank you for your commentary, it was excellent.”
